Simple Syrup

If you're gonna make cocktails, you're most likely gonna need simple syrup.
It's one of the easiest things to create for your home bar.
Prep Time 1 minute
Cook Time 2 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 Part Water (Filtered or Bottled)
  • 1 Part White Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Vodka* (optional)

Equipment

  • Measuring Cup
  • Scale (optional, but highly recommended)
  • Pot
  • Stove Top
  • Mason Jar

Method

  1. Measure equal parts water and sugar.
  2. Put in a pot and heat up with medium heat.
  3. Continuously stir as the mixture heats up.
  4. Once all the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is clear, remove from the heat.
  5. Let cool, then store in a mason jar.
  6. Add vodka to help preserve.
  7. Store in the refrigerator.

Notes

*The simple syrup will only last a few days, but if you add a little vodka it will help preserve it. With the vodka, it should last up to a month in the refrigerator.
