Maraschino Marinated Raisins
Equipment
- Mason Jar
- Strainer
- Bowl
- Measuring Cup
Ingredients
- 400 Grams Luxardo Maraschino Cherries (14.1 oz)
- 100 Grams Raisins (3.5 oz)
- 60 ml Brandy (2oz or 4 Tablespoons)
- 22.5 ml Amaretto (¾ oz or 1 ½ Tablespoons)
- 22.5 ml Maraschino Liqueur (¾ oz or 1 ½ Tablespoons)
Instructions
- Follow our Magical Marinated Maraschino Cherry recipe. As noted there, you will only need half the syrup.
- Put the remaining syrup into a new mason jar. You can also repurpose the glass Luxardo jar. It works great for this.
- Add raisins to the jar.
- Be careful not to fill the jar above the liquid line. You want all of the raisins resting below that. If you're got the space, add more raisins.
- Seal the jar, label and date it.
- Put the jar into a dark cupboard.
- Let the raisins rest for about 6 months. This will give them ample time to suck up the flavor from the syrup.
Maraschino | Getting Your Money’s Worth
As you probably already know, authentic, high quality maraschino cherries are expensive. The syrup is also pretty darn tasty. There is really no reason why any of it should go to waste. You could just use the leftover syrup to top your yogurt pancakes or waffles. However, you could go that extra step and use the syrup to marinate some raisins.
If you’re already doing the Magical Marinated Maraschino Cherry recipe, this will only take two additional steps. Seriously, less than a minute to get this together. It’s a no brainer!

What to do with your Marinated raisins
If you’re not sure what to do with your Marinated Maraschino Raisins, probably the best option is to incorporate them into a baked item. I’ve personally used them in fudge, and it turned out amazing.
I’ll get a fudge recipe up before Christmas. Keep watching the page. Better yet, sign up to our mailer list to keep up to date.
Although I haven’t done this yet, I am certain they will be the perfect addition to oatmeal cookies.
They will also be fantastic if you bake them into muffins, or a cake. You could incorporate them into a frosting. You will need to dry them a little before doing that to keep a stiff consistency.
If you’re feeling lazy, just use them to top some ice cream.
Sorry in advance… this is some real nightmare-fuel.
