There are few things we should make clear; we like our coffee black and pure, don’t use creamers, sugars, or any other types fake flavor enhancer, and we buy grind whole beans every morning. As well, we buy beans that haven’t been roasted yet, whenever that’s possible. It would be fair to say we’re coffee purists. We have nothing against people that like to dress up their coffee. We tend to be on the side of getting quality beans and tasting what those beans can produce. So using a product like Godiva Chocolate Truffle Flavored Coffee is a bit out element.

Generally, flavoring coffee is a mine field of preservatives and obscene amounts of sugar. Neither are good for your health, nor should they be the way you start your day. So it was on a lark that we decided to try Godiva’s Chocolate Truffle Flavored Coffee. We were, of course, familiar with their high quality chocolate offerings, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt.

The coffee comes pre-ground and dusted with natural chocolate. It has no sugar added, so the coffee is carb-free. That is a huge plus for us. Since they use natural ingredients, the taste is deep and surprisingly lovely, with just the right amount of chocolate to satisfy your craving. It has a neat finish, with no harsh aftertastes. It will beat anything being served by Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, or any other chain out there.

Since this is a Godiva product, it should come as no surprise this coffee is a little on the expensive side. Expect to pay around $20 (¥2,000) for a 10oz (280g) bag. Considering that, we don’t use it every day. Rather, it’s great to keep around for occasional use. As a bonus, we’ve discovered that if you mix it half and half with a regular coffee, the taste is just as chocolaty. This way you will a lot more use out of the product.
